Semiotic Theory interrogates the liminal intersection between body and garment, positioning the garment as a structure in space for the body to inhabit. Inspired by the poetry of Kitasono Katue and the Spatialist interventions of Lucio Fontana, the work centers on the concept of Ma — the constructive significance of the interval and the space between forms.
Defined by a rigorous clarity and surgical precision, silhouettes function as sculptural negotiations of the void. Approaching the space between skin and structure as tangible material, Semiotic Theory addresses white not as a pigment, but as a liminal state. Here, expression being achieved through subtraction, positioning the void itself as the primary site of creation. Reduction emerges not as an imposed limitation, but as an intrinsic byproduct of spatial logic and geometric stillness. Through the articulation of space and a singular, structural incision, the piece challenges the fundamental identity of clothing, examining the boundary where presence is defined by absence.
